  • Dr. Tony Herring has served as chief of staff at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children since 1978. He is the third physician in the history of the hospital to serve in this position. Dr. Herring is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and an honor graduate of Baylor University College of Medicine. He completed his internship in straight medicine at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston and a surgical research fellowship at Harvard University. Dr. Herring also completed his junior residency in surgery and his residency in orthopaedic surgery in the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. He completed the Berg Sloat Traveling Fellowship in 1975. Dr. Herring has served as chairman of the Pediatric Committee of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and president of the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America. He is an associate editor for the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
