When it comes to local color, corny dogs and Big Tex are local icons. The State Fair of Texas® delivers them all, and DART is your ride to the adventure! This year’s theme is especially flavorful: “Treats of Texas!” The yearly tradition starts Sept. 30 and runs through Oct. 23.

Here are some helpful tips for a smooth experience on DART to the State Fair.

Green Line to the State Fair

Spend more time enjoying the fair, and less time dealing with traffic and parking. Just take the Green Line, which drops you off right at the Main Gate (Fair Park Station) or a couple of blocks from Gate 6 near the Cotton Bowl (MLK, Jr. Station).

Free parking

Park for free at any one of DART’s Park & Ride stations. Each of DART’s four light rail lines has numerous points in downtown Dallas where you can transfer to the Green Line. And if you’re riding the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) or DCTA A-train, transfers are a snap – both connect directly to the Green Line at Victory Station.

Save with the GoPass® app

Buy your transit passes with our GoPass® app and save big on your fair tickets. With each pass you purchase, you’ll get $5 off of a State Fair ticket on weekdays – and a whopping $7 on Saturdays and Sundays. The app is free, and available through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Go to GoPass.org for more details on the app, as well as information on the GoPass Tap card and other contactless payment methods.

Spread out a little

It’s understandable that people tend to cluster near the front end of the platforms. But if you make use of the whole platform before boarding your train, you just may have a less crowded riding experience.

If the train is full, consider taking the bus. DART Bus Routes 23 and 214 will drop you off near the main entrance of the fair. To see if a DART Bus fits your itinerary, visit DART.org/schedules or use the Google Transit trip planner at DART.org.

Enjoy your visit to the State Fair – which is among every Texans’ favorite Treats of Texas. DART lets you avoid the traffic congestion, as well as the cost and hassle of parking.
